FDN4 - Parental & Community Involvement

Section F - Foundation

Parental Involvement

In alignment with the District's philosophy, the Governing Board emphasizes the importance of parental involvement at both the District and site levels. The Board defines parental involvement in the broadest possible terms, recognizing parents as critical partners in the educational process. The Superintendent, within the capabilities of District staff and available financial resources, is tasked with incorporating a variety of activities, strategies, and structures at the District and school levels to actively involve, support, and engage parents. This collaboration aims to enhance the development of parents as active participants in a student support system, fostering an environment that maximizes every student’s potential for success.

Community Involvement

The Governing Board values the public's substantial resources, training, and experience as essential assets that can be beneficial to the schools. The strength of the District is largely determined by how effectively these community resources are engaged in advisory roles and support the improvement of the local educational program. Public input will be carefully considered, with priority given to the impact on the educational program and student success. However, the Board reserves the right to make final decisions that may differ from public recommendations if such advice is inconsistent with the Board’s goals, current educational practices, or financial limitations.
