Public Information Program

Local

The Governing Board acknowledges the public's right to access information regarding its actions, policies, and the intricacies of its educational and business operations. The Board promotes transparency, encouraging open discussions, study, and active participation from all stakeholders in pursuit of the best possible education programs for the community. While the Board values input from individuals and groups in addressing educational and financial issues, it remains the ultimate authority in making decisions on policy and educational programs. The Board adheres to the following guiding principles to ensure an effective public relations program:

A. The Board will conduct all official business in open meetings (with exceptions as provided by law) that are open to the press, public, and school employees. These meetings will provide an opportunity to receive and consider oral and written communications when included on the agenda.

B. The Board will strive to act efficiently and expediently while always considering the public interest.

C. Board members will remain well-informed about the school system's operations and represent the community’s perspective, knowledge, and insight.

D. The Board will ensure that records of all proceedings are maintained, and minutes of meetings (excluding executive sessions) will be public records.

E. The Board recognizes that earning and maintaining the confidence and respect of the community is critical to the success of the District's educational programs.
