Section F - Foundation

District Goals

The goals of the Creighton School District shall be directed towards realizing the vision of the Governing Board and will be achieved through the implementation of strategic and tactical plans.

The district goals will be composed or revised every three (3) years. The Governing Board will consider recommendations from the Community Council, staff, patrons, and other interested parties, incorporating their input when adopting goals for the District.

The Governing Board shall ensure that the proposed goals are conducive to accomplishing the District's vision and reflect the values and interests of the Creighton community. The Board reserves the right to modify proposed goals as necessary. Once adopted, these goals will serve as the foundation for formulating the strategic plan and will be reflected in the administrative evaluation instruments.

District Mission

The Creighton Elementary School District was established by the state legislature under the authority granted in the Arizona State Constitution for the primary purpose of providing an education to students within the District. While the District offers additional services such as student care during the school day, employment for staff, and community use of school facilities, these services remain subordinate to the District’s primary mission of educating students.

The Governing Board, elected by the community, is responsible for ensuring that this mission is fulfilled. However, the Board acknowledges that this responsibility can only be met if all sectors of the school community actively participate in and uphold their respective responsibilities:

  • Staff: The Board fulfills its responsibility by first employing a competent Superintendent, who recommends the hiring of a capable staff. The Board expects each staff member to contribute their best efforts towards achieving the District’s educational goals. In particular, the Board emphasizes the critical role of teachers in maintaining and enhancing their educational abilities to ensure that each student reaches their full potential, developing a sense of dignity and self-worth.

  • Parents: The ultimate responsibility for the well-being of children rests with their parents. The Board expects parents to support the District’s educational efforts by ensuring their children attend school regularly, cooperate with the school’s educational objectives, and foster a positive attitude towards education in their children.

  • Community: The resources required for educating students are provided by the community through taxes and other forms of support. The Board seeks continued community support for the District’s educational activities, both through individual participation and contributions from governmental, civic, and social organizations.

  • Students: Education is a valuable opportunity provided to students by their community. The Board expects students to recognize the importance of this opportunity and work diligently to reach their maximum potential. Students are also expected to respect the educational rights of their peers and avoid actions that may hinder the learning experience of others. The Board believes education should develop students’ habits, attitudes, understanding, and skills needed for a productive and fulfilling life in society. Students should be taught the duties and privileges of responsible citizenship as these relate to both individual well-being and the broader community, and they should be prepared to adapt to the rapid changes brought about by technological advancements, population growth, and urbanization.

The Governing Board, with the full support of each individual member, pledges its best efforts to govern the District effectively and efficiently. In doing so, the Board aims to provide every student with an exceptional educational experience that meets the demands of an ever-changing world.
