CURRICULUM DESIGN

The District acknowledges the importance and value of maintaining a systematic, ongoing program of curriculum development and evaluation that engages students, parents, teachers, and administrators. It is essential that the curriculum be regularly assessed and adapted to meet evolving educational needs. The Board grants the Superintendent the authority to lead the curriculum development process and to establish committees that will review and update the curriculum.

Meetings of authorized textbook selection committees shall adhere to open meeting law requirements as stated in A.R.S. 15-721(F) and 15-722(B). Any changes to the curriculum must be approved by the Governing Board.

The Superintendent is responsible for presenting proposals regarding curriculum adjustments and enhancements that are, in the opinion of the District’s professional staff and consultants, critical for maintaining a high-quality educational program spanning from prekindergarten (PK) through grade twelve (12).

All certificated staff members are expected to contribute to the overall school program, including participating in curriculum committees beyond their regular classroom duties.
